WOW ORIENTATION PROGRAM
Students at WOW FAMILY ORIENTATION WOW FAMILY WEEKEND
September 13 and 14, 2008
Sponsored by the Week of Welcome (WOW) program, this is move-in weekend for students. The Parent Program is available to welcome parents and family members of new Cal Poly students and to help celebrate their student's send-off to college.

WEEK OF WELCOME STUDENT ORIENTATION
September 15 - 19, 2008
WOW’s student orientation is a week long, nationally recognized program that allows new students to experience college life prior to the start of classes. More than 500 student team leaders, who participate in a three-month training program during spring quarter, coordinate the program.

WOW groups participate in a "WOW-A-RAMA," a get-acquainted mixer for new students held on one of Cal Poly’s athletic fields and officiated by a Cal Poly alumnus; SLO Bound, an introduction to the community and downtown businesses; College Connection Day; Awareness Day; the Club Carnival and special events. Groups also plan their own outings, keeping students busy from sunrise to sunset.

REGISTRATION
Students register themselves for Week of Welcome, and parents and family members for Family Orientation Weekend, online through the program’s registration system available through the CAL POLY PORTAL. Students need a username and password to register.  They will receive an e-com or postcard notification directing them when registration is open.  Registration usually begins early - mid August.  Visit the WOW WEB SITE for more information about the fees and for a list of activities.

"Our son Owen heard about WOW when he started as a freshman and “WOW', what a great experience! Although we were in the area the same week, we didn’t see him for five days, and occasionally got a message raving about the things that he had been busy doing with his group. This turned out to be the best possible introduction to Cal Poly. He had a lot of fun and met hundreds of new and returning students. It certainly gave him a sense of belonging."
